Creatively Grounded is a joyful garden filled with delicate blooms reaching upward through a softly painted landscape. Poppies, coneflowers, irises, and other wildflowers emerge from an earthy, abstract ground, their slender stems creating a sense of movement and spontaneity.
Soft blues, blush pinks, warm yellows, lavender, and muted greens create a peaceful, airy palette, while the flowing layers of paint add texture and depth. The contrast between the loosely painted flowers and the more abstract, fluid underpainting gives the piece a sense of freedom and organic growth.
This painting celebrates the beauty of staying rooted while continuing to grow—a gentle reminder to remain connected to what grounds us while reaching toward the light. While painting "Creatively Grounded" I let the piece lead the way. I poured paint which formed the ground guiding me toward creating a softer more delicate floral composition. I didn’t know that long stemmy flowers would emerge from just a few green drips. When I paint I follow what the paint suggests, not what the art world expects.
